GreenCamUz Second Training Program Continued with Expert Discussions on Environmental Toxicology and Sustainable Environmental Governance

The fourth day of the Second GreenCamUz Training Program was held on 9 July 2026 at Karabük University (Türkiye) within the framework of the Erasmus+ CBHE Strand 1 project “GreenCamUz – Green Campus Initiative: Integrating Sustainability into Higher Education in Uzbekistan.” The programme focused on environmental toxicology, environmental governance, and sustainable education, bringing together international experts to share advanced knowledge and best practices with project partners.

The day's programme opened with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Faissal Aziz from Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco) entitled "Introduction to Environmental Toxicology: Concepts, Principles, and Multidisciplinary Approaches." The session introduced participants to the fundamental concepts of environmental toxicology and emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary approaches in assessing environmental risks and protecting ecosystems and public health.

Following the morning session, Dr. Tlholohelo Precious Tsolo from the Central University of Technology (South Africa) delivered a presentation on "Integrating Sustainable Education on Environmental Toxicology in Universities and Beyond." The presentation highlighted approaches to incorporating environmental toxicology into higher education curricula and demonstrated how universities can strengthen sustainability education through interdisciplinary learning and practical engagement.

The programme continued with another expert lecture by Prof. Dr. Faissal Aziz, who presented "From Environmental Monitoring to Risk Management: Toxicology Governance in Uzbekistan." The session addressed environmental monitoring systems, risk assessment, and governance mechanisms, emphasizing the role of evidence-based environmental management in supporting sustainable development and environmental protection.

In the afternoon, participants visited the KARDEMIR Iron and Steel Factory, where they observed industrial production processes and learned about environmental management practices implemented within one of Türkiye's major industrial enterprises. The visit provided valuable practical insights into the relationship between industrial development, environmental responsibility, and sustainable resource management.

The GreenCamUz Second Training Program continues to enhance international cooperation by promoting knowledge exchange and capacity building in sustainability, environmental governance, and green transformation within higher education institutions.
